Let's get real here for a sec. I don't have anything against this brotha in fact I actually like his music; he just happens to be victim of circumstance for what I'm about to say...
*PSA* I am sick & tired of dudes old enough to be my daddy still trying to rap. Once you hit that 40 mark it's WAY past your bedtime...Todd Anthony Shaw AKA Too Short I sincerely commend you on all of your efforts in giving us lyrical eargasms galore & over the years you kept our heads bangin' to those so poetically written tracks such as 'Pimp The Hoe ' & 'Can I Get A B*tch '...I also REALLY appreciate your dynamic performance as 'Lew-Loc' in Menace II Society; those two lines in my opinion should've warranted a solid win @ the Source Awards for best breakoutpimp actor of the year.
And let's not forget you did pen your own term in the ebonic dictionary...you know being the 'founder' of the word biatch & all...
BUT it's time for you to say good night or at least do us a fave & allow your lyrics to grow up...

Let's face it; Grown MEN should NOT still be rhyming about pimpin', tricks, & hoes...let's leave that to the young whack ass rappers i.e. (bow wow, shawty lo, young berg...I could go on for days). Someone of your stature & with your credibility should know when it's time to let it go. Let's do the math...dude has been in the business for like 20years, recorded like 157 albums & is still going strong...Ain't nothing' wrong with doing what you love but can we talk about something else besides pimpin' b*tches @ the tender age of 42....DAYUM!
Short Dog ain't the only one who needs to hang up the mic...
These brotha's are approaching some serious deadlines...40 is right around the corner...
Young Sneezy hey I love jeezy too, but um if your over 19 it's time to retire 'young' from your alias....30
Ice Cube I love Cube on someone else's track but unless he's making a NWA Greatest Hits I'll pass ..39How old is too old to be a rapper?

AMEN GIRL, I agree with this post 100%!But, I'm afraid that all these fool know to talk about are pimps and ho's....so, once they reach 40, they feel lost....what's a lost negro to do?
LOL...hey girl...I agree...it's like there's no maturity , how can they still be rapping about the same type of crap they were rapping about when they were in their twenty's???
I don't think there is a set age, but do I agree the content of the lyrics should mature as the artist matures. It's possible Too Short hasn't matured.
Oh, and thanks for giving Uncle LL a pass - the reasons ARE pretty obvious, lol!
Good post, girl!
u nailed it O. These dudes got one foot in the grave and need to make room for the young & talentless. They tryna be pioneers and sh*t. Hmm...too old?? definitely 35ish...then they can hide in the background and produce and do business $hit. Or just go full time into acting cuz u know errrrybody got a reality show ;)

wowwwwwwwwww.
I agree with you on most of these but Cube will always get a pass with me. I am SO mad at that picture of Trick Daddy! He looks like a modern day coon!
Oh this is great... I wrote a blog about this a few months back.. that will be my first release (I am releasing about 40-50 blogs out of 300 that I wrote since 2003)...
"Niggas need to stop rapping after 35!"
But basically, my feeling is that, these are the top quality rappers in the game right now. They been doing it for so long. Why has age made them in some way irrelevant in these days and times? What are these guys supposed to do with themselves after that certain age, 40 in your blog and 35 in my own? Are they supposed to just shut up even when they have something to say? Should they just go under a rock and ghost write for some loser who can't write his own rhymes? Why should that man stop doing what he knows and loves to do because of his age?
One more thing...
Don't forget Rakim and KRS One. Go on youtube and put "Classic Nike Kanye" in the search bar. Compare them to the lack of talent that's out there and tell me if they really need to stop rapping.
Mayne, I feel like rappers should stay in the game as long as they want. Ice Cube's last album was one of the best of 2006. Ghostface Killah, Scarface, and Jay-Z are all approaching 40 and still releasing hot music. Shoot, Ice-T is in his 50s and his last album was really good. Big Daddy Kane and Rakim are 40 and still rip mics. The only problem with older rappers is that people wont give them a chance. They right them off because of their age. As long as the music is good, I'm listening no matter how old the rapper is.
i dont care how many albums they put cause:
1. im not listening OR paying attention.
2. im mos def not buying it
so all in all, let'em live, as long as they aint hating on the younger dudes coming up like the ice t and soulja boy situation.
wow...all of you made some really valid points..I think my whole thing is the content. To me if you've been in the game 10-20 yrs & your still producing the same content talking about the same type of things...then you haven't truly developed & you've become complacent.
Truth is the age thing doesn't matter at all...Look @ Jay-Z dude will be 40 this year & he's still @ the top of his game & has set the pace for artist like lil' wayne...AND Jay is versitile he can release a hardcore underground track then do a song with linkin park & still manages to deliver.
Hell I like Too Short...I still play some of his music BUT I need him to pen a few tracks that establish the fact that he's grown.
LOL @ BJ...I don't buy half the ish that's out either...
@Prez...u couldn't be more right...
@Sane...girl I love me some Cube too...BUT I haven't loved-loved him since 'We Be Clubin' LOL =)
@StraigtG...you know somethin' your right! But the majority of the rappers you named have credibilty & they actually have something decent to say...I'll pass on the Ice-T but I feel what you're saying. And like you stated if it's good music I'll listen too...
Regarding the content, I think a lot of artist are scared to change the formula which gave them a name. They thinkk they will lose their fan base my switching it up a little. Look at Usher; he switched up his content drastically and nobody is really checking for him anymore.
Having said all that I have to agree with BJ because I rarely buy cd's anyway. Gas is too high to waste money on foolishness. BTW, after watching LL Cool J new video (2008 Head Sprung) I can't give him a pass. He needs to give up rapping and just pose shirtless in magazines.
Qdara i than told you lol
Wassup Bin Wa!!!!!!!!! Now who in the heezie is 'Q'dara...I don't know her....lol
I don't care how long they rap cuz I'm LimeWire'in shit ANYdayumway. I ain't wastin' hard-earned gubmit munnay on NOBODY's ish.
What I DO care about is why is Busta lookin' like homo porn star, Bust On My Face, in that pic?
And ninj wonder why folks think he's a dookie pirate...
@Savv...girl you know that's exactly why I put that photo up...he is certified Whack!!!!
